Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor also known as a producer, director and actress. Her work has been recognized for her roles in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter was awarded numerous prizes which included an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. Her career began acting as an actress both on Broadway and Off Broadway. Passionate about acting since the time she was in school, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. Following a bout of mumps, she went deaf in one of the sides of her ear. This didn't stop her from pursuing her dream to be an actress. When she was a teenager she studied drama, and then moved into New York City. Hunter was stuck in the elevator of the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. Together they created Broadway Crimes of the Heart that marked the debut of Hunter on Broadway. Hunter moved into Los Angeles and tried to land films parts. The film, Swing Shift, she landed the role of a back-up. Holly Hunter has been in a number of television series, films and movies over the course of her 30-year career. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrity as well as a winner of the Women in Film Lucy Award.
