Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor as well as producer and director. She has been praised for her roles in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. The movie Piano earned her numerous awards including an Oscar. The talented actress began her career as an actor on the stage by performing in a myriad of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. The actress has had a passion for acting since she started school. The first time she appeared in a show in the fifth grade was in Helen Keller. The actress was deaf in one ear following a bout of Mumps, but she didn't allow this handicap to hinder her desire to be an actress. While in college, she took classes in theatre as well as later moving from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her dream. She met Beth Henley in an elevator and they worked together on Broadway Crimes of the Heart, Hunter's first film. As she relocated to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to get films to play. A supporting role was found for Swing Shift. Over the past three decades, since then she has appeared featured in a variety of series and television films. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
